Volvo has unveiled its first fully-electric luxury MPV, the Volvo EM90.
The Volvo EM90 is based on the Zeekr 009, a vehicle from the company that’s also owned by the Geely Group. Oh, and it’s from the Chinese conglomerate, it will be first available in China and is now up for pre-order there.
That said, the EM90 has a 200kW electric motor with 268hp that sends power to the rear wheels. The company claims that it can go from 0-100kph in just 8.3 seconds — quite impressive for a large automobile.
Power is drawn from the 116kWh battery, which the company claims has a range of 739km and has a fast charging feature where it can go from 10% to 80% in just half an hour. You can also use its battery to charge appliances and even other EVs.
The Swedish company also stated that the EM90 is a “Scandinavian living room on the move,” referring to its luxurious interior with its thick reclining seats, and sliding doors that have easy-access touch controls for the windows, locks, and air conditioning.
For entertainment, the vehicle has a large 15.4-inch main display on the dashboard and a second display that is 15.6-inch in size that drops from the top, which you can use for watching content and video calls. Audio is provided by 21 Bowers & Wilkins speakers. The entire multimedia setup is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon. Moreover, the EM90 can seat six passengers with two seats in each row.
The Volvo EM90 is now up for pre-order in China for a price of CNY818,000 (~Php6.3 million). International release details are yet to be announced.
